Police Seeking Help Identifying Witness to May Shooting

San Bruno police believe a male who was being chased by several gang members on May 26 may have information that could help police with their investigation of the incident.

Police are searching for a male who was involved in a between a police officer and several suspected gang members near Third Avenue.

The male may have information that could help police with their investigation of the incident, police said.

At about 1:43 a.m., police heard about a confrontation near San Bruno Avenue and Third Avenue and that several people were chasing a male along the sidewalk toward the Valero gas station on Second and San Bruno avenues.

Police later said that the suspects—Daniel Garcia, 23, of San Bruno, Michael Apolinario, 25, of Pacifica and Diego Bernal, 18, of San Bruno, who are all documented gang members—were in the neighborhood to kill a rival gang member.

After a chase with an officer who tried to stop the car they were riding in, which was stolen, one of the suspects, believed to be Garcia, turned and fired a handgun twice at the officer. The officer was unharmed. All three suspects were arrested and now face attempted murder charges.

Police are also attempting to identify anyone else who may have witnessed the May 26 incident.
