A woman involved in a crash on the 101 Thursday ran from the scene and was later caught by San Bruno police, but it turned out that she had no cell phone and was going home to call emergency services.
The crash was reported at 9:55 a.m. on the northbound side at the westbound I-380 connector ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to CHP Officer Mike Ferguson, the woman lost control and her vehicle went off the ramp and into the bushes.
She suffered minor injuries and was later taken to a hospital, Ferguson told Patch.
"Originally it looked like it may be a hit-and-run," Ferguson told Patch.
San Bruno police caught up with her near her home, which was near the site of the crash, Ferguson said.
Following a conversation with the woman, officers determined she had indeed been trying to get home to call emergency dispatchers.
There was some damage to the guardrail but it remained intact, Ferguson told Patch.
