Cul-de-Sac Takes Shape

Work continues despite rain; no parking on stretches of Huntington Avenue.

Work on the grade separation will roll on as planned despite less than hospitable weather conditions. During the daytime, workers will

  • Construct the First Avenue cul-de-sac by Melody Toyota,
  • Make progress the tracks south of Scott Street, t
  • Install communication cables near Walnut and Scott streets,
  • Improve drainage near the I-380 overpass,
  • Make upgrades to the signal systems,
  • Construct retaining walls for the future temporary station.

Night work for the coming week will include installing and relocating crossing gates at San Bruno Avenue, installing temporary signal structures, new signal houses and signal cables near the Scott Street crossing, as well as construction of the retaining walls for the temporary station.

One way traffic control is in effect within the immediate work area. No Parking signs are installed on the east side of Huntington from the corporation yard to the existing station. No Parking signs have been installed in various areas on Huntington from San Mateo to Angus avenues for potholing activities.

The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues. A new elevated Caltrain station will be constructed between San Bruno and San Mateo avenues, replacing the existing station at Sylvan Avenue.
