In Crestmoor Neighborhood, Weeds Get Trimmed Before Fourth of July

The city has contracted with a landscaping firm that is cutting down all the weeds on the vacant lots in the Crestmoor neighborhood, just in time for when fireworks sales start next week.

With Fourth of July coming up, that means there will be only a few more days before fireworks go on sale here.

Some residents in the Crestmoor neighborhood had initially requested that the city ban fireworks this year because so many vacant lots are now covered with overgrown weeds as a result of all the homes that were destroyed and demolished after the Sept. 9 pipeline explosion. But that isn't happening.

So as an alternative, the city has contracted with a landscaping firm that is cutting down all the weeds on the vacant lots in the neighborhood, just in time for when fireworks sales start on Tuesday. The landscapers started this week and are expecting to cut down weeds on 32 properties as well as in Crestmoor Canyon.
