GOP majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, a Bakersfield Republican, fell silent after a two-day tweet blitz praising Republican leadership and bashing Democrats.

Congressional Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: "Numbers to know: 0. # of @HouseDemocrats who voted for GOP Default Act on floor today-it's not balanced, it's not bipartisan."

House Speaker John Boehner:   "The house has now passed two bills to cut spending & stop a national default. The Senate should act immediately & end this crisis.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: "The economic security of every family in American is on the line." #NoTime2Waste
