Letter to the Editor: AB 375 Deserves to Become Law
Editor:
It has taken too long to remove unlawful public school teachers from our classrooms. Teachers dedicate countless hours to giving students the respect and inspiration they need and deserve.
I disagree with the misguided claims that a new bill, AB 375, to speed up the teacher dismissal process and keep our students safe should be vetoed by the governor. I support AB 375 because it does what all educators and parents obviously want – remove more quickly from our classrooms and our profession any and all unlawful teachers.

But it does so while also protecting due process rights. The bill maintains the right of school districts to file dismissal notices at any time on the basis of immoral conduct, and clarifies the responsibilities of school districts and teachers with respect to the appeals process, which is shortened.
AB 375 deserves to become law.Christine Jessup,
