Photos: Experts Prep County Employees for Similar PG&E Disasters
In the event of the "Big One," county and city employees are better prepared to coordinate their efforts.
Counties and cities are strapped for first responders, so precise execution with little personnel is crucial in debilitating disasters, such as the in 2010.
To better coordinate responses and execution from all county entities, a team from San Luis Obispo came to Redwood City to provide an Earthquake Management Course.
The weeklong course from the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) culminated in a mock quake.

Employees from the Red Cross to Fire Departments to the Police Departments knew how to communicate with each other for all emergencies from a hospital collapse to a severe earthquake.
Employees were also instructed on how to apply for reimbursements from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.)
