Post Offices Offering Extended Hours For Last-Minute Tax Filers

The post office near San Francisco International Airport will allow curbside drop-offs until midnight.

Four Bay Area post offices are staying open late tonight to accommodate those who are mailing in their tax returns just before the midnight deadline.

Today is the last day to file federal and state tax returns from 2010, and although more people are now filing their taxes online, the U.S.

Postal Service is making sure last-minute filers have opportunities to send the returns through the mail.

The Redwood City Main Post Office is staying open until 7 p.m. today, and three other Bay Area post offices are offering curbside drop off until late tonight, according to the postal service.

The post office near San Francisco International Airport, at 660 West Field Road, will allow curbside drop-offs until midnight. The post office at 1300 Evans Ave. in San Francisco will offer the curbside service until 10 p.m. The other post office offering late-night curbside service is in Petaluma.

All other Bay Area post offices will be open during their normal hours. The hours of operation for individual post offices can be found by visiting www.usps.com or calling 800-ASK-USPS.
