Things to Know: Anti-Bullying Documentary; Get Ready for Kickball

Also, look out for the hip hop dance contest at the mall and Easter in the Park.

Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about this upcoming week.

Today. 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. All San Bruno Park School District students are out of school for Professional Development Day, where the staff undergoes training and ongoing learning about the best practices in classroom teaching. 

Sunday, March 18. 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Families are encouraged to watch a half-hour, anti-bullying documentary on the Cartoon Network titled Speak Up.  This program will begin with an opening message from President Barack Obama. It will also be posted on www.stopbullyingspeakup.com.

Events Beyond This Week...So You Can Plan Properly

Friday, March 23. 7:45-8:15 a.m. John Muir Elementary's monthly Walking School Bus rolls again. Students will meet with a parent at four locations and walk to school. Parents are invited to stay after school starts for a short PTA meeting.

Friday, March 23. This is the deadline to register for the city's youth kickball league, which is for third to fifth graders in San Bruno elementary schools and both boys and girls. The cost is $55 and teams are limited to 15 players. For more information, see the attached flier.

Friday, March 30. 3:30-5 p.m. Join Radio Disney and The Shops at Tanforan and hop on over for a day of fun that includes a Golden Egg Scavenger Hunt, Egg Hunters mask activity and photos with the Easter Bunny.

Saturday, March 31. 9-11 a.m. The 33rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt and all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at City Park. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for those 65 and older and those 12 and under. Kids 6 and under eat free with a paid adult. For more information, call 650-616-7180.

Saturday, March 31. 2:30-4 p.m. The Shops at Tanforan will be holding its third annual Just Dance! Hip Hop Contest on the lower level by Old Navy. Show off your hip hop skills for a chance to win a $1,000 mall gift card. The first runner-up will also receive a $500 mall gift card. Group dancers ages 8 through 18 can enter by March 26 by submitting a video clip of a recent performance and completing a contest application. Email the completed application and video clips to evelynrosales@forestcity.net by 5 p.m. March 26.

1. The city continues to seek applications for filling commisssions, boards and committees. Return your completed application to the or fax it to 650-589-5941. Go to the city's website to read about the commissions, boards and committees available.

2. Help report observed graffiti. Call 650-616-7141 to report all graffiti so that San Bruno can become a graffiti-free city.
