San Bruno Unemployment Rate Below 5 Percent

The unemployment rate in San Bruno continues to be smaller than the county, state and federal numbers, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

In August, San Bruno’s jobless rate was 4.6 percent. The rate for San Mateo County was 5.3 percent.

According to the state, school, healthcare and services provided the strongest job growth, while food service and bars cut workers.

The jobless rate in California increased to 8.9 percent while the national unemployment rate declined to 7.3 percent.
