School Board Race Takes to the Streets—In Signs

A collection of photos of campaign signs around town for the San Bruno Park School District board race.

With a little more than two weeks left until the Nov. 8 election, the candidates for the San Bruno Park School District board have started to plant their campaign signs around town in hopes of bringing more visibility to the race.

Incumbent Kevin Martinez and candidates Joseph Capote and Chuck Zelnik all have campaign signs strategically placed throughout the city. The signs for and against the Measure O campaign, the $40 million bond measure for the school district, have also started popping up.

Let us know if there are more campaign signs around San Bruno, and we'll add them to the collection.

Yes on measure O signs and Kevin Martinez signs have been placed on City of San Bruno public land and on Cal Trans Land. These Placement were done on Saturday buy union member. They responded to me when told about SB and Cal Trans requirement, that did not allow for them to place them on their land, WHO CARES. That seams to be there normal answer.

Thanks for the comment, Chuck. Could you please explain to the public what's wrong with placing campaign signs on public land and why that "Who cares" response matters?
Chuck Zelnik October 24, 2011 at 08:51 PM
Signs are only allowed on private property with owners approval. The union members said who cares, like they do not have to follow the rules.

What union members? This is an educational opportunity for the public as well. I am sure it is not common knowledge that signs are not allowed on public property.

I don't think it's fair to blame "union members" -- lots of people have no idea. What I have a problem with is the people who put up signs and don't take them down after the election.

Why is there such a silly discussion about where the signs are placed and who did and did not ok it. The names all need to get out there and this petty stuff needs to stop.

Thankfully, I am on the sidelines for this election. It should at least be stated that campaign signs - amount, size or location - do not determine the election. Hopefully, all voters will thoroughly review each candidate/measure on their ballot. VOTE.

Ken is right. Signs should not determine the election, know your candidates and review the facts on measure O.
