Speier, NTSB Official to Visit Explosion Site

The congresswoman and the chairwoman of the NTSB are expected to tour the site of the Sept. 9 explosion and then give a briefing to reporters.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier is planning to be back in the Crestmoor neighborhood this week—this time to meet with National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Deborah Hersman.

The two officials on Wednesday will tour the site of the Sept. 9 explosion near Glenview Drive and Earl Avenue. Afterward, they are expected to give a briefing to reporters.

A Speier aide said they will likely give an update about the , expected to be complete in September.

Speier will also likely address concerns brought up in a recent San Francisco Chronicle story that questioned where PG&E got the steel for the pipe segment that ruptured in the Crestmoor neighborhood. According to during its March hearing in Washington, D.C., PG&E claimed that the pipe was manufactured elsewhere when Line 132 was being installed. 

But that claim can't be confirmed, according to the Chronicle story.
