Friday, September 9, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.   will
debut two new self checkout machines. The machines utilize RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification), which allows for faster check out of library materials. The self checkout machines will help the library keep up with increasing circulation while maintaining current staff levels. Come visit us and check out our new machines!

Friday, September 9th – 5:00 p.m. DEADLINE for Nominations for San Bruno Beautification Award.  Form at http://www.sanbruno.ca.gov/beautification_form.asp  All San Bruno
Residential Properties, Schools, and Commercial/Industrial Properties (You May Nominate Your Own Property).  Properties may not win in the same category in two consecutive years.  The number and ranking of awards will be at the discretion of the judges.  Presentation of awards will be made at the October 25, 2011, City Council Meeting.  This program is designed to recognize the efforts of residents and businesses to improve and maintain the physical appearance of our community. The focus is on the front exteriors requiring a significant commitment on the part of the property owner or tenant.

Friday, September 23, 6:00 p.m. Family Overnight in San Bruno City Park.  Bring your family out to San Bruno City Park and enjoy a night under the stars in our very own park! A hot dog BBQ, a movie in the park and breakfast are all included. Each family should bring a tent to sleep in, sleeping bags, flashlights, and warm clothes. All children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is only $12 per person. Minimum of 50 participants must be registered by Friday, September 16.  You can register online or in person at the Recreation Center. Who's Who and What's What

1. The City of San Bruno is currently looking for a few interested residents to fill vacancies on some of their many boards, commissions, and committees. The necessary form is attached. Even if there is NOT an opening on a specific committee etc. you are interested in, your interest will be kept on file for at least one year and the City will contact you when there is an opening. These boards, commissions,
and committees are very valuable to your City.

2. The adult softball and flag football leagues will be beginning in early September. The registration deadline is approaching. Contact Danielle at dbrewer@sanbruno.ca.gov for a packet. All games will be played at Lions Field.

3. The Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking to hire after-school sports coaches.  Applicants must be available between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The deadline for sports coach positions is open until filled. Call 650-616-7184 for more information.

4.  Teens DO make a difference! Join the Youth Activities Committee (YAC) The City of San Bruno is seeking youth in 7th through 12th grade who are looking to take an active role in fundraising and planning events for other teens. When you join YAC, you can work together with other students to raise money for events YOU want in your community. Earn community service hours while making a difference! If you’re interested in being a part of YAC come down to the Recreation Center and pick-up an application and submit it with one letter of recommendation from a teacher, advisor, counselor or coach.
