Things To Know: Summer Camp at Tanforan Starts

Also, don't forget about the BART parking changes, Sunday's farmers' market, and a workshop for homeowners and homebuyers.

Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about this upcoming week.

Saturday, June 23. 1 p.m. The Tanforan mall summer camp begins. Join others along with Barnes & Noble to kick-off of the summer mall camp with a fun LEGO-building activity for children ages 4 and older. As space is limited, register for this activity at the customer service desk at Barnes & Noble. Then join the mall on Saturdays through Aug. 7 for a different camp event every week.

Saturday, June 23. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, will be hosting a Save-Your-Home and Homebuyer Education Day at Westmoor High School, 131 Westmoor Ave., in Daly City. The workshops will be presented by the California Housing Recovery Initiative. The topic covered will include: how to prevent avoidable foreclosures, the home-buying process and down-payment assistance. Sunday, June 24. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The San Bruno Chamber of Commerce holds its farmers' market at its new location in the parking lot of The Shops at Tanforan, just north of the El Camino Real entrance. The market is held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sundays.

Tuesday, June 26. Join and attend the S.O.S. (Save Our Schools) committee meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. every Tuesday night during the summer at the Veteran's Memorial Building in the community room. Upcoming Events So You Can Plan Accordingly

Saturday, June 30.  Join the Friends of the Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for their booksale. For $5, you can buy a bag to fill to the brim with books. Call the library for more information at 650-616-7078. (Also, the Angus Avenue stairs are now equipped with a chair lift.)

2.  The San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District has information about how to live with raccoons. More information is provided in the attachment.

3. BART recently rebid its parking permit management contract and has awarded the new contract to Select-a-Spot, LLC, effective July 1, 2012. BART patrons with parking permit accounts as well as those on station parking permit waiting lists should expect to receive an email from the BART Parking Division. This email will be distributed by the new vendor on our behalf and be formally notifying patrons of the change in the parking permit vendor and providing them information on the transition process from the current vendor to the new parking permit vendor.
