Who's Who and What's What:

1. August 1. BART's daily parking fees at the San Bruno station will increase from $1 to $2. The monthly reserved permit fees will increase from $30 per month to $42 per month.  BART will continue to monitor the use of these parking lots every six months and will adjust the fees as required by the parking policy.  BART recommends that you link your Clipper card to our EZ Rider parking program (you’ll need a credit card). Using your Clipper card to pay makes parking easier – you won’t have to remember your stall number or carry cash.  If you don’t have a Clipper card, go to the Clipper website and sign up for one. Be sure to sign up for the BART High Value Discount (HVD) product so you can take advantage of the savings.

2. Volunteers/Computers Needed:  Stanford University has a new program and they are looking for volunteers with computers in the San Bruno area (and the EAST BAY). The Quake-Catcher Network is a collaborative initiative for developing the world's largest, low-cost strong-motion seismic network by utilizing sensors in and attached to internet-connected computers. With your help, the Quake-Catcher Network can provide better understanding of earthquakes, give early warning to schools, emergency response systems, and others. The Quake-Catcher Network also provides educational software designed to help teach about earthquakes and earthquake hazards. If you and your computer are accepted, they will install their program on your computer (desktops desired) and a matchbook size motion sensor to one of your walls or to your floor.  They desire that you leave your computer on MANY hours a day and leave their program running in the background.  One San Bruno location is now a part of their QCN.  Will YOU be number 2?

In Case You Missed This:

On Tuesday, July 12, the San Bruno City Council recognized San Bruno’s first GREEN BUSINESS,  Bay Area Green Solutions ("Cleaning to protect health without harming the environment") (650-872-7997).  Pictured are San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane presenting Roland Delgadillo with the recognition proclamation and Roland Delgadillo addressing the Council.

This past Sunday the 17th, amid the fresh fruits and vegetables of all the vibrant colors nature has to offer, your San Bruno Farmers' Market was displaying yet another way of getting into healthier and environmental friendly life styles.

With the cooperation and assistance of the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relieve Alliance (Located right at our Bay Hill Office Park), the San Bruno Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee hosted a booth aimed to encourage and promote bicycles as a form of exercise and leisure as well as an alternative to cars.  Visitors to the Farmers Market were treated to free bicycle repairs kits, bike route maps of the Bay Area, information
brochures, bike safety tips as well as posters of local sports icons and
inflatable beach balls. For those who stayed long enough after they collect their freebies, they also got an earful of an exciting project to introduce The Walking School Bus Program to San Bruno. (Look it up online!)  The committee, represented at the Farmers Market by committee members George Yang, Randy Brase, and David Nigel, eagerly invites citizens and residents of San Bruno to participate in their meetings, which convene 6 p.m. every second Wednesday at City Hall.   Pictured is committee member David Nigel.  For information on their new program “The Walking School Bus”, contact Laura Russell -  lrussel@sanbruno.ca.gov or 650-616-7074
