Shelter Creek Home Owner's Association - Candidate's Night

Last night I attended the first event where all four candidates were on stage.  We all had a few minutes to introduce ourselves and then there were questions from the audience.

I reminded everyone of the city council's decision on May 8, 2012, to raise sewer and garbage rates by approximately ten percent for 5 years.  I also pointed out the rate increase notification did not mention San Bruno's $642,167 fine, and $271,000 fee in July 2011.  Please see Martin Ricard's excellent article here on San Bruno Patch.  Who is responsible for the fine and fees?  The San Bruno City Council.  They failed to comply with the a cease and desist order and we wind up paying for it:  the fines, the fees, and higher rates!

It was great to hear directly from the community.  They asked about the water and sewer rates, the garbage rates, street sweeping, street maintenance, sidewalks, and how to improve our schools.  For information regarding my answers please email me at sanbrunotruth@gmail.com.

The next candidate event is scheduled for October 2nd, 7PM, at the Senior Center, 1555 Crystal Springs Road.  It is sponsored by, The League of Women Voters. Questions will be accepted in writing from members of the audience.

Shelter Creek has 1296 units.  According to the HOA the water bill is approximately $1 million per year.
