Three John Muir Elementary teachers recently won grants to help their students expand their learning beyond the classroom, the school reported.
The grants were from Philanthropic Ventures Foundations, which is based in Oakland.
Pamela Rondeau, a kindergarten teacher, and Anne Dallara, a second grade teacher, both earned $500 grants for ceramics lessons. Every year, they teach their students how to do ceramics, and the grants will be used to pay for supplies.
Second grade teacher Michelle Easley won a $1,000 grant that will be used to take students on a field trip to the Youth Science Institute in Los Gatos. The kids will get to see the "Dinosaurs and Fossil Fun" exhibit, the grant helps pay for the bus and exhibit tour.
