Merimont Subdivision Public Hearing Tuesday

Share your opinion Tuesday about whether or not these residences should be part of the South San Francisco Unified School District.

Tuesday evening the San Mateo County Superintendent's Office will hold a public hearing in San Bruno to address a petition from residents who want to transfer their property from the South City school district into San Bruno and San Mateo districts.

The hearing comes as a result of the petition submitted in August. According to the petition, parents who live in the San Bruno Merimont subdivision would like their kids to be able to attend San Bruno Park elementary schools and San Mateo Union high schools in order to preserve social continuity and community identity.

Both the petitioners and staff from the districts involved will present to the San Mateo County Committee on School District Organization at Tuesday's meeting.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Rollingwood Elementary School at 2500 Cottonwood Drive in San Bruno. The meeting will include a public comment period.

A second public hearing will be held Thursday Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the South San Francisco Unified School District Office board room at 398 B Street.
