Accomplishment: On Christmas morning, the group served food to the homeless at the Rose Home shelter in San Francisco. Currently, the Leos are raising money for scholarships for seniors in honor of former student , one of the victims who died in the Sept. 9 fire. So far, they've raised nearly $1,000.

Key to Awesomeness: "We have so many things that go against us as a school, and the types of kids we get are not given chances to be part of a social club or an organization such as Leo's," said Terry Andreacchi, the school's Leadership teacher, who works with the club. "So their awesomeness is the fact that these kids have that available to them here."

Added club President Teresa Trujillo: "We go to Peninsula, so a lot of people say, 'Oh, you go to Pen.' But it's like, 'No, I go to Pen, and I'm a Leo's Club member at Peninsula High School.' It just gives us almost a chance to be level with other students, if not greater, because we are overcoming all the obstacles and challenges."
