Many have claimed that Hutt's job performance has been detrimental to the school district in recent years and that the school board has been blindly giving him a raise nearly every year. An demands Hutt's resignation, despite the fact that his contract is set to expire June 30, 2013—unless the contract is renewed.

In fact, a Patch investigation shows that Hutt's last raise was in 2008. Besides that year, he received a raise in 2003, 2005 and 2006. He also receives several stipends, including one for having a doctorate, one for longevity with the district and a car allowance. Hutt was hired in November 2002.

In several open meetings, school board President Skip Henderson also has said that Hutt has received a "very good to excellent" evaluation every year. He would not provide any more details, claiming that information was not public.
