A local online prep sports website recently profiled a former Capuchino High athlete who has been making strides as a sports doctor in Atlanta.
Dr. John Xerogeanes, known as “Dr. X” at the Emory University School of Medicine, has operated on former President Jimmy Carter, is the chief of sports medicine and associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Emory University, and he’s the team physician at Georgia Tech University, according to Prep2Prep.com.
Prep 2 Prep reported that Xerogeanes has enjoyed success as a doctor, specializing in knee and shoulder injuries, publishing research articles and contributing to textbooks. He has also helped develop surgical techniques.
But he has never forgotten his San Bruno roots, according to Prep 2 Prep.
