FOOTBALL: With Loss in CCS Playoff Match, Cap's Season Comes to an End

The team lost to Seaside High in its first Central Coast Section playoff game on Saturday. But the Mustangs still have a reason to hold their heads high.

It was the first time the team made it to the CCS playoffs in a decade, but Capuchino's opponent in its first big game of the post-season was just too overpowering on Saturday.

Seaside High beat the Mustangs 56-21. According to Cap's athletics department, the team couldn't keep up with Seaside's big plays.

While the season is now over for the football team, the team's accomplishments this year—winning its first league championship since 1958—have allowed them to keep their heads high.

"This season was one that will not soon be forgotten by any of the players," the athletics program said on its website. "While their final game and score was not what they wanted, the work that they put in starting in the summer and continuing through the season have taught them that if you work hard anything is achievable."

On a positive note, senior running back Justin Ewing has now set a Central Coast Section county single season record of 2,918 yards after his performance at the game—a record that hasn't been achieved since 1997.
