PHOTOS: Police Recognition Day in San Bruno

Saturday May 17th 2014 saw the Annual Police Recognition Day held in "The Shops at Tanforan" in San Bruno.

This yearly event has been held for more years than this reporter can remember to honor fallen and current local area police officers.

Police agencies from around the Bay Area provide a vehicle and / or staff an information table and interact with the shoppers - especially the children.

Again this year there were 2 K-9 demonstrations and after each the children could get up close and personnel with the dogs.

This is yet another opportunity for the children to see first hand that the Police Officers are their friends and should they need help, the Police are there to help.

The San Bruno Citizens Crime Prevention Committee (run under the San Bruno Police Department) again manned their info table and had brochures on "Neighborhood Watch", Reporting of Suspicious Individuals, & How to collect your DNA.

With the assistance of State Senator Jerry Hill and Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, they handed out coloring books on Fire Safety and just plain safety.  These coloring books are always a GREAT hit.

Attached (Thanks to committee member Roberto DonLucas) are a sampling of photos from the event.
