gave the Council an update on San Bruno’s attempt to cut back on water consumption.  While the citizens are conserving, they have more to do to meet the state mandated requirements.

Mr. Burch reviewed the following info:

Outdoor Water Restrictions Implementation Plan

·      PUBLIC OUTREACH

o  Informational Handouts

§  Public Service counters /Utility billing/ City Hall

§  Senior Center

§  Library

§  Rec Center

o  WebSite

o  Cable TV

 

·      RESPONSE

o  Staff Training & Guidance

§  Requests for Service / Questions

§  Assistance to citizens to gain compliance with restrictions

§  Help with Irrigation Timers / Leaks

§  Water Conservation tips/techniques

·      Programs low flow toilets, Shower heads, facet aerators

 

·    MONITORING & COMPLIANCE

 

·    Development of the compliance process including techniques to identify and respond to persistent violations. Techniques could include fines.

 - Many services and programs are available to San Bruno residents including rebates on low-flow toilets and water-efficient clothes washers.

 

Business - San Bruno offers services and rebate programs to our local businesses. Upgrade your bathrooms with a low-flow toilet for a commercial rebate.

 

Landscaping - We have many resources available for creating a beautiful water-wise garden. Programs include rebates on water-wise plants and efficient irrigation systems, educational materials, and free water-efficient landscaping classes. 

 

Schools and Kids Programs - Download games, videos, lesson plans and other water conservation information designed specifically for teachers and students.
