San Mateo Police Officers and Detectives Arrested 2 Suspects last week and continued to add to the count of numerous arrests related to the ongoing property crimes uptick in the Bay Area. During the first month of 2014, SMPD Officers and Detectives have identified at least 6 suspects and closed over 25 residential and vehicle burglaries.

SUSPECT ARRESTED BY SMPD PATROL DURING OVERNIGHT BURGLARY

SMPD Officers arrested 48 year-old Vincent Joiner of San Mateo during an burglary early Saturday morning February 1st, in the 300 Block of West Bellevue Ave. Residents called SMPD at just after 5 am, reporting that an unknown subject was inside their garage. Responding Officers flooded the area, and spotted the suspect (later identified as Joiner) fleeing the scene wearing a black ski-mask. They pursued the suspect on foot as he jumped fences in an attempt to elude officers. Joiner was safely arrested by officers in a yard a few houses away. Evidence at the scene linked Joiner to the garage in question.

Vincent Joiner was ultimately booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges of Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Possession of Stolen Property, and Resisting /Obstructing Officers.

SMPD DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECT ON 3 SAN MATEO RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES THANKS TO LEAD FROM BELMONT POLICE

SMPD Detectives followed up last week on information generated by an outstanding stop and arrest by a Belmont PD Patrol Officer. Belmont PD made a traffic stop Thursday January 30th on 18 year-old Pedro Mendoza of Menlo Park. Mendoza was arrested during the traffic stop by Belmont Police for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, and other charges. Property in the possession of Mendoza related to San Mateo Crimes. SMPD Detectives, working with Belmont Police, searched Mendoza’s vehicle and residence, and were able to link Mendoza to residential burglaries in the Parkside Area of San Mateo (Van Buren, Brooks, and Eisenhower Streets).

Mendoza was additionally booked by SMPD for 3 Counts of Residential Burglary. SMPD Detectives continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to identify additional crimes committed by Mendoza in San Mateo and other jurisdictions.
