41 year-old Redwood City Resident Andrew Quintero has been arrested by San Mateo Police on multiple charges, after a search by SMPD k9 Ajax revealed evidence of drug sales in Quintero’s vehicle. San Mateo Police contacted Quintero May 17th just after 5:30pm, as he was exiting Jaybird Adult Books in the 500 block of E. Third Avenue. Officers were able to determine that Quintero was under the influence of drugs, and arrested him. SMPD k9 Ajax assisted his fellow officers by conducting a search of Quintero’s vehicle. Ajax alerted to a duffel bag in the vehicle. A search of the bag by officers yielded over 5 ounces of methamphetamine, paraphernalia of drug use, and paraphernalia of drug sales (digital scale and baggies).

Quintero was ultimately booked into San Mateo County Jail on drug influence, drug possession for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and committing a crime while out on bail for another offense.

SMPD congratulates our k9 partner Ajax on his great search and arrest as continues to “clean up the streets”! Ajax is one of two new k9s now on the street with SMPD. He has been on patrol since late 2013, and is a valued partner to our SMPD Officers.
