During the last week, Mayor Jim Ruane touched on the new economic developments that are occurring within San Bruno. While listening to this I wondered, will the addition of Walmart.com and the presence of other large companies really bring us economic growth?
Working for , a small business owner here in San Bruno, I can only answer this question with a "Yes".
Here’s Why:
- New Residents. Walmart.com will likely bring in their own management and select staff. These employees will be relocating to our city, looking for new places to live, new places to eat and new places to shop. This will ultimately bring in revenue to our local San Bruno businesses.
- Job Openings. I have found an abundance of Entry Level Job Positions that are open for the Walmart.com location in San Bruno. My hope is, this will give our Gen Y the opportunity to start a career in their hometown
Gap, YouTube, and Google have all seemed to provide a local growth in population and new younger vibe all around town. I can only imagine that Walmart.com will do the same.
So... Business owners: Open those doors up for business! College Grads: Spruce up those resumes! San Bruno Residents: be welcoming! Let's show them that we are truly the city with a heart.
