A Dinner for Cole

St. Robert's Friends Helping Friends organization held a pasta fundraiser to benefit 6-year-old Cole Baker, who is battling cancer.

Friends Helping Friends, an organization started at in 2006 to help those in need in the community, organized a pasta dinner fundraiser Friday for 6-year-old Cole Baker, a San Mateo boy who has stage-4 cancer and is receiving ongoing chemotherapy treatments, to help with the nearly $30,000 extra needed to help with medical bills.

Cole's father, Jim Baker, is now only working three days a week to help care for his son, according to the San Mateo County Times. Cole's mother, Elisa, is a fourth-grade teacher at and has also cut back on hours to help get Cole through his treatments.

As a family, they have banded together to support Cole and keep a positive attitude through the five rounds of chemotherapy that Cole has undergone so far (Jim and Elisa also have a 3-year-old son). Jim also started a blog, , to share how Cole and the family are perservering throughout the process.

All told, Friday's fundraiser sold nearly 500 dinners.
