A Sig-alert was issued for a hit-and-run crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near the San Francisco International Airport, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash involving three vehicles that injured one person was reported at 10:08 a.m. The alert was issued at 10:37 a.m. and canceled by 11 a.m., according to the CHP. One person involved in the crash was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a complaint of pain for what appears to be minor injuries, the CHP said. The suspect vehicle that fled from the crash is described as either a white SUV or station wagon, according to CHP officials. -Bay City News
The cause of the collision is not known at this time.
A man died of his injuries after he was struck by a train in Burlingame early this morning, Caltrain officials said. Caltrain's southbound train 198 struck the man near Bayswater Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. The man was transported to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The incident is under investigation. The train remained there until the track was reopened at 1:55 a.m. It was the last train of the day. There were about 500 passengers on board at the time of the collision, Caltrain officials said. -Bay City News
The records created for the millions of immigrants residing the United States since 1944 will be released to the public on Tuesday at the San Bruno-based National Archives.
The National Archives on Tuesday will for the first time be making available records for millions of immigrants that date back to the early 20th century. The documents, known as the Alien Files or "A-Files," include thousands of immigration records for Asian Americans that were previously headed for destruction. Some of the files are 100 years old. According to the National Archives office in San Bruno, "these alien case files document the famous, the infamous, the anonymous and the well-known. They are an historical and genealogical goldmine with information about immigrants from more than 100 countries." The press release was delivered to us Thursday about mid-afternoon with a bold headline: "University officials refuse to answer inquiries, say it’s unnecessary to respond to public scrutiny" The release came from Adam Keigwin, Chief of Staff in the office of Senator Leland Yee. It made for some pretty interesting reading. According to Keigwin: "Records show officials from the California State University system are failing to fully disclose the compensation of several of their top executives." Capuchino High School recently held a grand opening for its new arts building, a $6 million project that was paid for with Measure M and grant funding as well as money from the San Mateo Union High School District. The completely redone building is both functional and visually appealing, and the school hopes it will pave the way for the next generation of great artists from San Bruno. Former Skyline College and Capuchino High baseball standout Dale Brewer's bizarre cheeseburger ritual got national press. He’s now acting on the local community theater circuit.
A greasy cheeseburger got Dale Brewer featured in Sports Illustrated. And more than a decade after one of the wackiest sports rituals you've probably ever heard of put the former local baseball standout on the national stage, it was the inspiration of his 7-year-old daughter that landed him on a physical stage. Brewer, a Co-State Player of the Year when he led Skyline College to a Coast Conference title in 1994, has found a new calling. He’s now an actor in the local community theater circuit, and part of an ensemble performing in "The Producers" at Foster City's Hillbarn Theatre.
