I have to say the San Bruno Police Dept. is on it's game. SBPD and all departments involved…Read More displayed nothing but the upmost professional well organized plan to take this business down. Thank you Chief Telfard and the other departments involved for keeping San Bruno a safe place to live and work.
Sincerely,
Business owner on SM Ave.

This location has very limited parking on the back street which is one way and up against…Read More residential. There had been a bike shop just down San Mateo Avenue where Tandy Leather now exists. The San Trans bus does stop very close to this location as it comes down San Mateo Avenue from Jenevein and turns east on Angus and returns back from Angus to Jenevein. The City has just finalized their Transit Corridor plan with guidance for improving San Mateo Avenue info at http://www.sanbruno.ca.gov/comdev_images/redevelopment/Transit%20Corridors%20Plan/tcp1.html

The CPUC is recommending this fine, not the city of San Bruno. I live in the area too, & I think…Read More PG&E SHOULD pay the maximum penalty. Don't be complacent with PG&E just because they gave you money to get a new driveway, roof & a fresh coat of paint on your house.
todd miller May 6, 2013 at 08:45 pm
The problem lies with the city of San Bruno. They want all this deep pocket money while the city…Read More doesn't care at all for the neighborhood residence where the explosion took place. I live in the area and satisfied with the way PG&E treated us. San Bruno city government is acting is a selfish unforgivable way. shame on you San Bruno officials!

I was contacted by this (or a similar) scam late last year. The salesman mentioned they were working…Read More with the chamber of commerce and that they had many different businesses already lined up. I spoke with CEO Monozon and when I found out she was not working with them, I ceased contact immediately.
This is not the first time I've seen salespeople of questionable ethics attempt to establish credibility by dropping the name of the Chamber of Commerce. It always pays to check with the chamber before making any commitments, especially over the phone.

Just wondering if they're local - or if this business was drawing people from other areas.
JB Davis (Editor) April 18, 2013 at 04:03 pm
Good question Claudia! It is standard procedure to ask for that information. In this case, the…Read More police didn't provide the "city of residence" of the suspects, but rest assured that I did ask and eventually that information will become available.

I'd like to think that what's next for the Avenue is a better environment for both residents and…Read More business owners there. I'm glad that there was a strong effort to stop this type of business. Thanks SBPD - and all the corresponding agencies. What's next ?- I think people need to come and support the businesses on the Avenue.
By the way - I'd like to know where the people who were arrested resided.

If I'd get a scam call like that, I'd report it to http://www.callercenter.com to raise a warning.…Read More Like what you do at patch.com, it's really helpful that we have easy access to articles discussing phone scams so we are better-informed and will have better chances of avoiding becoming a victim to them.

Yes, someone called me last week. He said that he was referred to me by Jamie at the Chamber at…Read More that they had "chosen" my business to be featured on the magnet. The magnet was to be distributed to newcomers to San Bruno, I think. I just told him I had no money for this type of advertising. Didn't realize it was a scam at that time.

Still vote for fuel pump cafe. It used to be called carrot. Her food is fresh and delicious. And…Read More she's in San Bruno.

Currently there are two ways by mass transit and one by car. Taking BART will get you to Embarcadero…Read More Station, which puts you at the Ferry Terminal and a short distance to Fisherman's Wharf. Caltrain takes you to Fourth & King where you can catch a light rail to Embarcadero or catch the #47 to Fisherman's Wharf.
So why would you, except for the novelty, drive over to the ferry terminal when BART and Caltrain are already providing service? Sure a ferry is fun to take but due to its limited schedule the other two are more practical.
Mark Taylor April 1, 2013 at 07:01 pm
There is also a 7-Eleven at Angus & Huntington (near San Mateo Ave).

I really don't think the cheaper oil will translate to cheaper gas at the pump. The price of gas is…Read More determined by world markets and ships that bring oil in can probably take refined products like gasoline and diesel out. That said, supporting a friend is a good thing.
As far as the Sierra Club is concerned, I think if you look into their policy proposals you'll see they are pushing for renewables like solar or biodiesel.
Andrew Daly March 20, 2013 at 01:18 pm
Great news, let's get more.
Low cost oil from a friendly neighbor that does not want to kill us -…Read More sounds wonderful. We should buy every drop that Canada can produce.
The KeyStone pipeline should have been approved long ago.
Believe me, the tree-huggers will be filling up at the gas station with the lowest prices no matter how loud the Sierra Club'ies whine!

Hmm. Maybe Patch needs to rename this section instead of calling it "Sprouts and…Read More Shutters." Friendly Smiles was the name of my office. Sprouts and Shutters refers to the Patch section publicizing business openings (sprouts) and closings (shutters). But I can see what you mean.

I would really miss taking the grandchildren there to get an idea of the books they want for…Read More birthdays & other special occasions. Plus I can always find 2 or 3 books
I like. Would really miss it.

Definitely Would miss it! B&N is one of the few stores that my 16yo son will Voluntarily go into…Read More with me. We are avid readers and being able to browse around the store, pick up a book & flip through a few pages (just to be sure) makes it all the more enjoyable.
In addition to books, we'll even pick up a CD or DVD (or 2) every now and again.
