Bil Paul is a Wisconsin native who grew up in a small rural town. He attended a number of different colleges, but graduated from San Francisco State University in 1971 with a BA degree in filmmaking. He received an MA degree in English/art in 1978 from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. He is an Army veteran who served in Viet Nam.
The career from which he's retired was with the U.S. Postal Service. He worked as a letter carrier, in marketing, and in public relations. After retirement from the USPS, he worked for an internet startup and two medical organizations. Since 2002 he has worked as a freelancer, writing newspaper columns, designing publications, photographing, and providing public relations services. For a time as a sideline, he owned a small press, creating, publishing and selling non-fiction books such as bicycle touring guides.
He and his wife have been married 30 years and have two sons and a daughter. They moved to Dixon from San Mateo in March, 2009.
Bil's interests include veggie gardening, ham radio, photography, bicycling and camping, local history, experimenting with pancakes and waffles, and long morning walks around town.
