The San Mateo County Home Sharing Program, operated by nonprofit HIP Housing, lends a hand in the sometimes stressful task of finding a place to live, or finding a roommate to help pay your expenses.

There is no cost to participate in the program.

Both sides answer an extensive list of questions aimed to create a good match. Home Sharing arrangements sometimes extend for several years, with the average match lasting about a year-and-a-half.
